Emotional Freedom Techniques

Tapping or Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) simply involves lightly touching or tapping on certain points of our face, upper body (fully clothed) and hands while focusing on an emotionally challenging life issue you wish to overcome. This light tapping works in the same way as acupuncture, without the need for any needles, and sends signals to parts of our brain so that you can turn off the fight / flight / freeze / flop response. EFT also helps you to reprocess the emotions felt at the time the initial event occurred so you are able to calm down, release any associated physical pain and change how you feel about the issue. 


The main 8 points we tap on are on different ‘energy meridians’ or lines forming a network flowing through your body, like the electric cables of a building. And in the same way a fuse may blow when you switch on too many appliances all at once, or there is a problem with damp, the same can happen in your body. So for example anxiety is often linked to the stomach, yet by tapping just under the eye we are able to change your fuse and promote healing.

Research is proving that after just 30 minutes of tapping changes chemicals within the body, especially those released ready for the body to fight or run away. In 2012 Dr. Dawson Church reported that EFT lowered cortisol significantly more than traditional talk therapy and in 2020 Dr. Peta Stapleton showed a 43% decrease in cortisol levels - the ‘stress hormone’.


And more recently Prince Harry has been demonstrating how he has been using EFT to overcome his PTSD symptoms. 

Study after study show that when you deal with the underlying emotional issues, the body is brought back into balance leading to emotional well being, increased levels of happiness, weight loss, increased focus and productivity as well as an improved immune system function. So you are literally adjusting your nervous system, your digestive system, your endocrine systems, your hormones… your mind and body can start to heal by letting go of any negative thoughts and physical pain, leaving you to create and live the life you want in a more resourceful way.
